Chris Noth Responds to Viral Sarah Jessica Parker Headshot Dig, Says He Was ‘Slightly Sarcastic’ More click-driven
Chris Noth has addressed his viral comment about Sex and the City costar, Sarah Jessica Parker.
The actor, 71, stirred up some drama when he replied to a fan comment on his Friday, Jan. 9 Instagram post that took a dig at his former costar.
Parker, 60, was honored with the Golden Globes' Carol Burnett Award on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and, under Noth's post — a selfie from the gym with the caption "F--- new years - LETS GO!!!!" — a fan wrote, "You mean f--- sjp & her award right? lol."
Noth responded to that comment and seemed to agree with the sentiment as he wrote, "Right."
Now, he's setting the record straight. In a Wednesday, Jan. 14 Instagram post, he wrote, "My off-the-cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot."
"It is not news. It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world there are more important things to worry about."
Noth accompanied the statement with a headshot of himself.

The dig at Parker, which the actor called "slightly sarcastic," comes four years after a scene Noth filmed for the Sex and the City revival, And Just Like That..., was cut from the season 1 finale amid multiple allegations of sexual assault against him.
His character, Mr. Big, had died in the show's premiere episode, but he was slated to make a return in a scene with Parker's Carrie Bradshaw. At the time, TV Line reported that while Noth and Parker had filmed scenes together in Paris for the episode, the footage would "not make it to air."
Two women's allegations against Noth, who has been married to Tara Wilson since 2012, were shared by The Hollywood Reporter in Dec. 2021. One woman claimed she met Noth when she was 22 in 2004, while the other said she met him in 2015 when she was 25.
He denied the allegations from two women that he raped them, calling the claims "categorically false" and said the "encounters were consensual."
"These stories could've been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross. It's difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don't know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women," Noth said at the time.

A third woman then came forward and told the Daily Beast that Noth had sexually assaulted her in 2010 when she was 18, but he again denied the allegations.
"The story is a complete fabrication, and the alleged accounts detailed throughout read like a piece of bad fiction," a rep for Noth said at the time. "As Chris stated yesterday, he has and would never cross that line."
Noth has never been investigated or charged.
