Woman Rescued by Skier After Losing Snowboard in Rom-Com-Worthy Meet-Cute (Exclusive)
JJ Wells out in Brighton Park in Salt Lake City, Utah, when she briefly stopped to stick her board into the snow so she could film a skier who had asked her to capture a trick.
But the moment she finished filming and turned back around, her board was gone — already sliding away down the mountain.
“I immediately panicked,” Wells, 25, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Even though it wasn’t busy, I was stressed it was going to hit someone.”
She chased after it on foot, but the board disappeared quickly, and she feared she’d be searching for it for hours.
That’s when a stranger skied up beside her.
“He told me he saw my board slide away and asked if he could help me find it,” recalls Wells, a waitress and content creator. “I didn’t realize that meant literally picking me up and carrying me while skiing.”

Knowing the moment was too good not to share, Wells later posted the video to TikTok.
“My board slid away so this random guy just swooped me up and skied me down the mountain,” she captioned the clip, which has since racked up more than 2 million views and thousands of comments.
“Did we just witness the beginning of a rom-com?” one viewer wrote.
“The fact that he is skiing and carrying you — ma’am, that’s your husband!!! 👀,” another commented.
Someone else added, “Waiting for this to become a movie.”

Now, Wells is sharing an update many viewers have been hoping for.
“Yes, we’ve stayed in touch — and we actually started a romantic relationship,” she says. “He saw the video right after I took it, and he’s since posted it on his TikTok too.”
As for what she hopes others take away from the viral moment, Wells keeps it simple.
“Get out of the house and off the dating apps,” she says. “You might meet the love of your life in the wild — or on top of an actual mountain.”
And for those invested in the story? “I’m excited to keep sharing our journey,” Wells adds. “This is only the beginning.”
